Solidarity for Asian People’s Advocacy to hold its Second General Forum
Solidarity for Asian People’s Advocacy (SAPA) will hold its second General Forum in February in Bangkok. Over 60 people are expected to attend this meeting, which aims to develop common action plans of civil society organisations.

Civil society organisations developed common action plans based on common understanding, while responding to emerging human rights challenges in the region, during the meeting of SAPA. In this two-day meeting, the group also evaluated its activities and developed new strategies for future challenges.

NGOs assess actions and share strategies on the UN Human Rights Council

SAPA Working Group on the UN Human Rights held its 3rd Regional Consultation in Bangkok on 31 January. During this consultation, the working group discussed the events and developments at the UN Human Rights Council that focused on the Universal Periodic Review (UPR), a newly created human rights procedure in 2007.

Civil society plans to advocate in the coming Global Forum on Migration and Development

SAPA Working Group on Migration and Labour outlined a plan of action on 4 February to engage with the 2nd Global Forum on Migration and Development, which will be held in Manila from 27 to 30 October this year. The group will organise a number of actions so that the forum would focus governments’ responsibilities in the human rights of migrants.
