Auto Repair Estimation
In repairing your vehicle, you need to estimate the total cost you need. Estimating your cost in the beginning of the reparation will avoid you from being surprised due to the large cost it might be. Estimation is basically more than just writing the total cost in a piece of paper. This is an agreement or contract between the repair shop and customer. The contents are about the agreement of a customer for the shop to repair the vehicle. By signing this estimation contract, misunderstanding is avoided between them. Remember, this is estimation and not the real total amount you have to pay.

Replacing or Repairing Your Car's Engine?

Engine is considered as the most essential and expensive part of the car. Therefore, you need to decide between replacing and repairing your car's engine.
If your car is eight or nine years old and it has been driven extremely hard over those years, there is probability that the engine may fail to work. In this step you should determine whether you will keep your car, or retire it and buy a new one. The evaluation depends on its age, value, and overall condition. You should compare the car market value and the money you need to repair. If it does make sense, then you may have it repaired. But if your vehicle has retained its value and other major components can work well, spending the money might be worthwhile.
When You Should Replace Air Filters & Oil Filters?
Air filters and oil filters are car parts which rarely get enough attention from the car owners. They will come to a repair shop if the condition of those two is bad and need replacing. Actually, there are no specific rules which tell you the exact time to replace them since it depends on the way you drive and the number of miles you log. But, there are guidelines which you should notice and apply on the way to maintain your car.
Oil filter works to remove solid contaminants like dirt, carbon and metal particles from the oil, so it will prevent the damage on the surfaces of bearings, journals and cylinders within the engine. It can be inferred that regular check and replacement on the oil filter will make it trap these contaminants more effectively. In new engines, oil flows based on specific route through the filter before it goes to the crankshaft bearings and cam bearings. Placing oil filter will be efficient to remove the contaminants and make sure that the pure oil taken to the engine. In maintaining your car performance, the filter should be changed regularly to avoid the buildups of dirt and debris which obstruct the flow of oil. If you forget to do this, your engine can fail to work because of loss of lubrication. Often, auto manufacturers will inform the car owners the better time to change the oil filter. Then, you should notice that today's oil filters have been downsized to save weight, cost and space which tend to reduce its filtering capacity. Replacing the oil filter every time the oil is changed can be good idea in maintaining the engine.
